Loneliness isn’t proof you’re broken

Loneliness feels like a verdict. If I were easier, it says, someone would be here. That’s a cruel story. Plenty of good people sit in good rooms and still ache.

Company can be quiet. Two horses at a pond. A page that doesn’t ask you to perform. A text that says, I thought of you. You can send that, or receive it, or wait until morning.

You aren’t broken because the evening is empty. You’re a person in an empty evening. Those are different.

If the loneliness has gone sharp — if you’re unsafe, if you cannot see a reason to stay — don’t sit this out alone. Help. A voice on a line. Tonight.
